Algar is licensed to receive municipal waste (MW) and similar waste, as defined in the European List of Waste, Family 20, published by Decision 2014/955/EU.
Other waste may be received, provided that it complies with the requirements defined in Annex II of Decree-Law No. 102-D/2020, of 10 December. See below for the List of Waste Accepted at Algar by facility.
Algar's facilities are open to the public for the reception of municipal waste produced in the Algarve region from individuals, municipalities, and public and private companies. For your convenience, you can find all the information about the location of our facilities, opening hours and respective telephone numbers in the Contacts/Facilities menu.
The transport of waste requires the Electronic Waste Tracking Form (e-GAR). You must present the respective document in digital format (e-GAR) or on paper at the reception of our facilities on the day of waste delivery. The e-GAR has been mandatory since 1 January 2018 (Ordinance No. 145/2017) and to fill it in, you must register on the SILIAMB platform. More information at www.apambiente.pt

All appointments, tasks, and other matters to be addressed should be forwarded to the respective work teams using the contact details below, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM. General telephone support will be provided during the same hours.
The following rules apply to all Customers, Service Providers, Contractors and Suppliers who travel to Algar facilities to load/unload waste, perform work and supply goods, with the aim of promoting the safety and health of all.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
- All Services to be performed at Algar facilities must be communicated in advance, preferably in writing, to the person indicated on the order form, in order to schedule their performance, except for regular services, which are already scheduled.
- All Customers, Service Providers, Contractors, and Suppliers must wear the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary to perform the Service, in accordance with the identified risks
- In the context of construction works, the executing entities must ensure that the Health and Safety Plan or Safety Procedures, as applicable, include the minimum requirements for protecting the health and safety of workers against the risk of exposure to biological agents, and the guidelines of the General Directorate of Health, namely, the Contingency Plan, in accordance with Guideline No. 06/2020 of 26/02/2020 (Note: For ongoing construction works, this condition must be met within a maximum period of 3 working days, counting from the date of sending this communication).
SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
Access and Circulation at Algar, S.A. facilities
- Access to restrooms, changing rooms, cafeterias, and other support facilities is prohibited.
- Pedestrian circulation is not permitted on company premises, so employees must remain within the premises only to perform necessary operations (e.g., loading/unloading waste, supplying products).
- All Algar facilities have alcohol-based hand sanitizer available in various locations for hand hygiene, whenever necessary.
- At the Barlavento Landfill, the Sotavento Landfill, and the Faro/Loulé/Olhão Transfer Station, Algar provides its washing systems for cleaning vehicles after waste loading/unloading operations.
To safeguard individual and collective well-being, Algar reserves the right to prevent the loading/unloading of waste, the performance of services/contracts/deliveries of goods at its facilities, in the event of non-compliance with the imposed conditions.
