Energy Recovery

The energy potential of the waste we produce is very high, and at Algar we seek to extract maximum value from the raw materials we process. This energy recovery is achieved through the biogas recovery process.

The biogas produced in landfills and in the anaerobic digestion unit (Organic Recovery Plant) is an added value in waste treatment, making it possible to extract maximum value once everything that can be recycled and treated has been. In 2024, Algar will have 6 motor generator sets, with an installed capacity of around 3600 kWh and an energy output of 21,000 MWh/year.
